A non-contact cost effective 3D scanner

The KONICA MINOLTA RANGE 5 3D laser scanner is designed for companies that are seeking a more economical solution to non-contact 3D measurement without compromising on high performance and quality. The Konica Minolta line of scanners delivers.

Dark surface mode

Measurements of objects with reflectance as low as 2.5% can now be performed without the use of special darkrooms or spraying of the object thanks to the dark surface mode function, which achieves the top level of low reflectance performance in the industry. In addition, the dark mode function eliminates the need for spraying and the measurement inaccuracies caused by the uneven thickness of the sprayed layer. Work efficiency is drastically improved by rendering pre-measurement surface preparation (spraying) and post-measurement surface cleaning unnecessary. Environmental load is in turn reduced since spray and cleaning liquids are not used.

Field-oriented robust design with a high accuracy of ±40 μm and a 1.31 million-pixel sensor!

How does the RANGE 5 achieves the highest level of guaranteed accuracy for a non-contact camera type 3D measurement instrument? By detecting finely detailed shapes as well as newly designed optics by utilizing a the new 1.31 megapixel CMOS sensor. According to ball bar accuracy testing based on VDI/VDE 2634 guidelines, the RANGE 5 provides an accuracy of ±40 μm.

Designed with the concept of on-site use, the Range 5 minimizes the influence of temperature change, instrument tilt, and other variables at the time of measurement, providing high reliability in actual-use environments such as factories and other on-site locations.

Fast two-second scanning and 3D preview function!

High-speed scanning is performed at approximately 2 seconds per shot thanks to the Range 5 original high-speed processing circuits. The 3D preview function allows users to predict the measurement results and check for scan area dead angles, depth, and other scan problems due to surface conditions or similar irregularities. Checking for these beforehand greatly reduces scanning errors.

All-in-one unit weighing only 6.7 kg is compact and lightweight!

The Range 5 compact, lightweight design enables the camera and controller to be integrated into a single body weighing approximately 6.7kg, less than half that of previous models. This allows high mobility in measurement environments. Furthermore, by using the optional stand, the RANGE 5 can be easily moved to a variety of environments when necessary and measurements can be taken for stress-free work.
