Specim GX17
The Specim GX17 is designed for industrial processes that require rapid material identification on fast conveyor belts and free-fall sorting systems.
Operating across the 980–1730 nm near-infrared range, the GX17 detects spectral differences that conventional color cameras cannot measure. These characteristics can be used to classify polymers, food products, coatings, minerals, pharmaceutical materials, and other substances.
Its combination of high imaging speed, efficient optics, and compact construction makes the GX17 suitable for high-volume machine-vision applications.
High-Throughput NIR Sorting
The GX17 reaches up to 800 fps across its full spectral range. Its 480 spatial pixels provide 50% more spatial pixels than a conventional 320-pixel QVGA hyperspectral architecture. The camera also provides 168 spectral bands, F/1.7 optics, and a maximum SNR of 700:1.
Material Identification Beyond Color
The GX17 enables inspection decisions to be based on NIR spectral characteristics rather than visible appearance alone. Depending on the classification model, the camera can support:
- Polymer and waste sorting
- Food inspection and grading
- Surface and coating analysis
- Mineral classification
- Pharmaceutical analysis
- Agricultural research
Conveyor and Free-Fall Integration
The GX17 uses push-broom line-scan imaging. As materials move through the inspection area, successive lines form a complete hyperspectral dataset.
The camera’s CameraLink interface connects to compatible industrial acquisition and processing hardware. When combined with SpecimCUBE, classification results can be delivered to downstream sorting equipment through the processing system’s machine-vision output.
