Press Release : Konica Minolta Spectrophotometer CM-26dG Series

KONICA MINOLTA SPECTROPHOTOMETER CM-26dG SERIES

For Digital Color Data Management for ICT and Automotive Production Sites

Singapore, February 2019

Konica Minolta Sensing Singapore Pte Ltd is pleased to announce the launch of CM-26dG series of portable sphere spectrophotometers for high-precision color measurement in March 2019.

Apart from the flagship model Spectrophotometer CM-26dG (to be introduced later in autumn 2019) for simultaneous color and gloss measurements, the new series includes the mid-range model Spectrophotometer CM-26d and cost-effective model Spectrophotometer CM-25d.

Successors to the Spectrophotometer CM-2600d and Spectrophotometer CM-2500d, used by many customers in the automotive and IT industries, the CM-26dG, CM-26d, and CM-25d are ideal for production sites that manufacture interior parts for automobiles and exterior parts for smartphones and tablets. It enables digital color data management1 across increasingly globalized supply chains and helps increase efficiency and effectiveness of customer operations.

Key features of the new series

High Inter-Instrument-Agreement

The CM-26dG series provides extremely high inter-instrument agreement. It was developed for true “Digital Color Data Management” where users can communicate measurement data based on absolute values, reducing the need of physical samples within a supply chain.

The CM-26d/26dG are true Close Tolerance (CT) grade instruments and customer can use them for quality control across their globalized supply chain, from components to those of finished products, with ease.

The inter-instrument agreement of the chromaticity value (average for 12 BCRA color tiles) is within ΔE 0.12 for the CM-26dG and CM-26d, and within ΔE 0.2 for the CM-25d.

Improved operator productivity with high usability

The job navigation function2 enables user to create workflows with graphical instructions for routine tasks to be registered in the instrument. This helps improve productivity by defining and promoting work uniformity irrespective of operator skill level.

The CM-26d/26dG offers changeable measuring apertures -Ø8mm or Ø3mm measurement areas, (the CM-25d: fixed Ø8mm measurement area) catering for samples and parts of different sizes.

All 3 models comes with a viewfinder, for accurate positioning on patterned sample or small parts. The instruments are designed to minimize scratching of sample surface.

Simultaneous measurement of color and gloss

The CM-26dG, with a compact symmetrical body weighing approximately 660 g (with battery), is a 2-in-1 spectrophotometer that measures color and gloss simultaneously. This provides time-saving and cost-effective solution to customer existing inspection process.

Faster measurements for increased task efficiency and improved durability

Products produced in bulk like smartphones requires thousands of quality inspections within a day. Short measurement times and measurement intervals together with high instrument durability are required for such inspection and the CM-26dG series fulfills both of these requirements.

When measuring both color and gloss, using CM-26dG, measurement time is about 1 second and measurements can be taken approximately every 2 seconds interval. In addition, durability, in terms of measurement cycles, has been significantly improved as compared to previous models.
