KONICA MINOLTA SPECTROPHOTOMETER CM-17d AND CM-16d

Performance Beyond Measure, Comfort Beyond Compare.
Singapore, 27 May 2024

Konica Minolta Sensing Singapore is excited to announce the upcoming launch of the new Spectrophotometer CM-17d and Spectrophotometer CM-16d, scheduled for release in June 2024.

Building on the success of their predecessor, the Spectrophotometer CM-700d and Spectrophotometer CM-600d, these latest generations of vertical portable spectrophotometers are poised to redefine the standards of color measurement, offering improved accuracy, operability, and versatility for professionals across various industries and sectors including plastics, consumer electronics, paints and coatings, personal care, food and ingredients, packaging, and building materials, among others.

User-Focused Design with Excellent Operability

Maintaining the vertical alignment design for ergonomic comfort and easy sample placement, the Spectrophotometer CM-17d and Spectrophotometer CM-16d excel in measuring the color of samples ranging from very small to large, including samples with shaped or curved surfaces. Notably, the Spectrophotometer CM-17d features an camera viewfinder that provides a live preview of the measurement target. In addition, an optional wireless LAN/Bluetooth module is available for wireless data transfer and connectivity with external devices, providing an even smoother workflow.

Both models also come with a screw/tripod hole at the front of the body for effortless installation of custom adapters/jigs and even robotic arms, allowing for seamless integration into automated systems, increasing efficiency and productivity manufacturing and quality control across various industries.

High Inter-Instrument Agreement, Repeatability with Faster Measurement Speed

The Spectrophotometer CM-17d and CM-16d offer high inter-instrument and repeatability, facilitating digital color management. This ensures colors are accurately and consistently communicated and reproduced throughout the global supply chain, from suppliers to finished product makers, streamlining operations. Specifically, the Spectrophotometer CM-17d offers an inter-instrument agreement (IIA) and repeatability, within ΔE*ab 0.12 and 0.02, respectively, ensuring minimal differences between measurements of multiple instruments in several locations. Furthermore, the measurement data remain compatible with their predecessors while boasting improved accuracy in measuring black colors and a quicker measurement speed.

Variety of Software and Accessories for Enhanced Functionality and Usability

These new spectrophotometers are supported by various software options and accessories to meet the diverse needs of professionals in different industries. Among these is the Configuration Tool CM-CT1 software, which helps simplify spectrophotometer setups, including sharing instrument settings across manufacturing sites or supplier facilities to ensure measurement standardization. For enhanced functionality, the optional color management software SpectraMagic NX2 is available, providing functions like custom illuminants and color formulas, data tagging, QC template sharing, and more.

The Spectrophotometer CM-17d and Spectrophotometer CM-16d feature a new cradle*1 that supports zero calibration and charging. It also includes a dedicated storage space for the white calibration cap, reducing the likelihood of misplacement. Adding to their versatility is an optional vertical leveling jig to facilitate measurements in an upside-down orientation, further enhancing the usability of both spectrophotometers.

Wavelength Analysis & Adjustment (WAA) for Reliable Measurement

The Spectrophotometer CM-17d and CM-16d come with the Wavelength Analysis & Adjustment (WAA) function designed to optimize measurement reliability. The WAA function checks and corrects any wavelength shift due room temperature changes, aging of the instrument, etc., during each calibration, ensuring the spectrophotometer is in an optimum condition, delivering measurement precision.
